Term Dates 2025–2026

Thank you to all the families who took part in our recent consultation on the proposed term dates for the academic year 2025–2026. We were delighted by the number of responses and the thoughtful feedback shared. Your support and engagement helped shape the final calendar, which has now been agreed by our Governing Board.

Following the overwhelmingly positive response, we are pleased to confirm that the term dates below will be in place for the next academic year.

Why Have Term Dates Changed?

These changes have been carefully considered to support children’s learning, wellbeing and attendance:

• Consistency for Pupils: By starting slightly earlier in August, we can offer a longer October break while still maintaining the required 190 teaching days. This supports children's need for rest mid-term without interrupting learning flow.

• Focus on Teaching and Learning: INSET days are spaced thoughtfully across the year, allowing staff valuable time to plan, reflect, and deliver high-quality teaching that directly benefits pupils.

• Promoting Strong Attendance: We know that good attendance is linked to better outcomes for children. This calendar has been structured to reduce the need for mid-term absences and help families plan effectively around school dates.

One particularly helpful suggestion from the consultation involved aligning some INSET days with potential long weekends to offer families a little flexibility across the year—an idea we’ll continue to explore in future planning.
