Our Six Classes: A Community of Learning

At Wittersham Church of England Primary School, each of our six classes plays a vital role in creating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment. From our youngest learners in Windmills to the eldest in Rother, every child is nurtured, challenged, and encouraged to thrive.

• Windmills: Our Reception and Year 1 classroom, where the learning journey begins. In Windmills, curiosity is nurtured through play-based learning and purposeful exploration. Reception children take their first steps towards independence, while Year 1 pupils build on these early foundations through a carefully balanced mix of child-led learning and more structured opportunities. The setting supports both year groups to thrive, with learning tailored to meet their developmental needs.
• Smugglers: Home to our Year 1 and Year 2 learners, Smugglers builds on early foundations with creativity, exploration and growing confidence. Here, children deepen their love for learning through engaging, hands-on experiences that develop their knowledge, skills and independence across the curriculum.
• Vikings: In Year 3 and 4, children in this class tackle new challenges, developing teamwork and resilience while expanding their knowledge across the curriculum.
• Oxney: Our Year 4 and 5 pupils are immersed in a dynamic year of discovery, exploring greater depths of the curriculum while honing their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. This is a year of growing independence as they prepare for the leadership opportunities and responsibilities of Year 6.
• Rother: Year 6 students are the leaders of our school, setting a positive example for others as they prepare for their next steps in education.

Across all classes, our school values of courage, cooperation, and compassion are woven into daily life, ensuring every child feels supported and valued. We are so proud of the progress and achievements seen throughout the school and look forward to another term of inspiring learning and growth!
