Our Results 2025-2026
We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our children across Wittersham Church of England Primary School. Our 2025–2026 outcomes demonstrate many areas of significant strength, with children achieving particularly well in Early Years, Phonics, Reading, Science and across a range of greater depth measures.
As a small school, cohort sizes vary and each individual child can represent a significant proportion of published percentages. We therefore consider statutory assessment information alongside children's individual starting points, progress and wider achievements to build a complete picture of their success.
Early Years Foundation Stage
Our youngest children achieved excellent outcomes in 2025–2026, continuing the strong upward trend of recent years.
85% of children achieved a Good Level of Development, compared with approximately 72% nationally. This has increased from 76% in 2023–2024 and 79% in 2024–2025.
In addition, 85% of children achieved the expected level across all Early Learning Goals, compared with approximately 71% nationally. Children achieved an average of 15.9 Early Learning Goals at the expected standard, compared with approximately 14.5 nationally.
These outcomes reflect the strong start our children receive at Wittersham and our commitment to developing confident, curious and independent learners from the very beginning of their school journey.
Phonics and Early Reading
Our strong focus on early reading is reflected in our 2025–2026 Phonics outcomes.
85% of Year 1 pupils met the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check, compared with approximately 82% nationally. This continues a sustained upward trend over recent years, rising from 58% in 2022–2023 to 75% in 2023–2024, 78% in 2024–2025 and 85% in 2025–2026.
By the end of Year 2, 95% of pupils had successfully met the Phonics Screening Check standard, compared with approximately 91% nationally.
These outcomes demonstrate the positive impact of our approach to early reading and the secure foundations being established for children's future learning.
Key Stage 1
Our Key Stage 1 outcomes demonstrate significant strengths across the curriculum, with particularly strong attainment in Reading, Mathematics and Science.
In Reading, 85% of pupils achieved the expected standard compared with approximately 70% nationally, while 30% achieved greater depth compared with approximately 18% nationally.
Mathematics outcomes were also strong, with 80% achieving the expected standard compared with approximately 71% nationally. 25% achieved greater depth, compared with approximately 16% nationally.
In Science, 95% of pupils achieved the expected standard compared with approximately 83% nationally.
Greater depth attainment was a particular strength across the curriculum. 15% of pupils achieved greater depth across Reading, Writing and Mathematics combined, compared with approximately 6% nationally, while 15% achieved greater depth in Writing compared with approximately 9% nationally.
Overall, 60% of pupils achieved the expected standard across Reading, Writing and Mathematics combined, compared with approximately 58% nationally.
Multiplication Tables Check
Our Year 4 pupils achieved an average score of 21.5 out of 25 in the 2026 Multiplication Tables Check, broadly in line with the approximate national average of 21.6.
Almost a third of pupils – 32% – achieved a perfect score of 25 out of 25.
Developing confident and fluent recall of multiplication facts remains an important part of our Mathematics curriculum and provides children with essential foundations for increasingly complex mathematical learning.
Key Stage 2
Our Key Stage 2 outcomes demonstrate a number of important strengths, particularly in Reading, Writing and Science.
Reading continues to be a strength at Wittersham, with 83% of Year 6 pupils achieving the expected standard compared with 75% nationally. 30% of pupils achieved the higher standard in Reading.
Writing outcomes were also positive, with 74% achieving the expected standard compared with 73% nationally. At greater depth, 17% of pupils achieved the standard compared with approximately 13% nationally.
Our children achieved particularly strong outcomes in Science, where 91% reached the expected standard compared with 82% nationally.
These outcomes sit alongside the wider achievements and progress of our Year 6 pupils throughout their time at Wittersham. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, determination and positive attitudes they demonstrated throughout their final year and as they prepared for the next stage of their education.
Celebrating Achievement and Looking Forward
Taken together, our 2025–2026 outcomes demonstrate many areas of strength across the school and particularly strong foundations in the earlier stages of children's education.
We are delighted to see children achieving above national outcomes across a range of measures, alongside increasing proportions of pupils reaching higher and greater depth standards.
We carefully analyse outcomes at every stage to understand what is working particularly well and to identify opportunities for further development. This evaluation informs our curriculum, teaching and school improvement priorities and ensures that we continue to build upon our successes while maintaining ambitious expectations for every child.
Most importantly, we recognise that children's achievements extend far beyond statutory assessment data. We are proud of the academic progress our pupils make alongside the confidence, independence, resilience and love of learning they develop during their time at Wittersham.
Every percentage represents an individual child, and our commitment remains the same: to know every child well, celebrate their successes and support them to achieve their very best.
