School Opening Times

Attendance and the School Day

At Wittersham Church of England Primary School, we believe that good attendance and punctuality are essential for every child to thrive—academically, socially and emotionally. Establishing good habits around arriving on time and attending every day supports your child’s learning, builds confidence and helps them make the most of the opportunities school has to offer.

Our School Day

  • Gates open: 8.30am

  • Registration begins: 8.45am (children must be in class by this time)

  • School finishes: 3.15pm for all classes

Children who arrive after 8.45am will be marked as late. Persistent lateness can quickly add up to lost learning time, which is why we encourage all families to support a smooth, punctual start to each day.

Why Attendance Matters

Every day in school counts. Even small amounts of missed time can affect your child’s progress and sense of belonging. We monitor attendance regularly and work in partnership with families to support good routines and address any barriers to regular attendance.

Children with strong attendance:

  • Achieve better outcomes

  • Feel more settled socially

  • Develop greater resilience and confidence

Clubs and Enrichment

Information about school clubs and enrichment activities is shared via our weekly newsletter and Class Dojo. These activities offer children the chance to discover new interests, develop talents and build friendships beyond the classroom.

By arriving on time, every day, your child starts each school day ready to learn, play and thrive. We thank all families for working in partnership with us to build these essential lifelong habits.
