About Wittersham Church of England Primary School

Wittersham Church of England Primary School is a small, nurturing and inclusive school at the heart of the local community. Guided by our Christian values of Courage, Compassion and Cooperation, we are committed to providing a rich, ambitious and supportive education for every child.

Our school is a place where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. From the moment they join us in Reception, pupils are welcomed into an environment that celebrates individual strengths, encourages curiosity, and fosters personal growth. Our dedicated staff work closely with families to ensure all children—regardless of their starting points—receive the support and challenge they need to thrive.

We are proud to have been judged Good in all areas in our latest Ofsted inspection (June 2025). Inspectors praised Wittersham as:

"A welcoming and highly nurturing environment... Pupils feel safe, heard and cared for."

The report celebrated the school’s high expectations for behaviour, strong teaching in reading, writing and mathematics, and our highly valued provision for pupils with SEND. Particular mention was given to ‘The Orchard’, our dedicated nurture space, described as a safe and calm environment where pupils receive expert support to manage emotions and catch up on learning.

Our SIAMS inspection (2024) also highlighted the strength of our Christian ethos, describing the school as:

“A place of kindness and love, driven by its Christian vision.”

The report commended how our values are lived out in daily life and shape a school community that is compassionate, inclusive and aspirational for all. Children are encouraged to explore big questions, engage in reflection, and grow into respectful and responsible members of society.
