Our Christian Values

At Wittersham Church of England Primary School, we believe that the teachings of Jesus Christ are not merely words in a book but a guiding light that shapes our students' lives and the entire school community. This is why we have chosen the story of the Road to Emmaus as our central Bible story. This powerful narrative highlights the importance of walking together with Jesus by our side, and it embodies our core values of compassion, courage, and cooperation.

Compassion: Compassion is the cornerstone of our school values. In the story of the Road to Emmaus, the disciples show compassion when they invite the stranger to stay with them. This act of kindness serves as a reminder that we, too, should show empathy and care to those we meet, both within our school community and beyond. Compassion fuels the warmth and inclusivity that makes Wittersham a nurturing place for all.

Courage: Even in their doubt and confusion, the disciples had the courage to recognize Jesus and embrace the moment of revelation. Similarly, we encourage our students to have the courage to face challenges head-on, to question and explore, and to stand firm in their faith and values. Courage empowers them to persevere in adversity and make positive choices, even when it is difficult.

Cooperation: The disciples’ cooperation in sharing a meal with the stranger led to a life-changing moment of recognition and understanding. In the same way, we value the power of cooperation at Wittersham. When we work together, support one another, and pool our strengths, we achieve great things. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or through collective worship, we strive to foster an environment where teamwork thrives, and God's love can shine through.

By embodying these values of compassion, courage, and cooperation, we create a community where each student is encouraged to grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically, all the while guided by the example of Jesus. The story of the Road to Emmaus serves as a constant reminder of how we walk together on our journey, supported by faith, hope, and love.
