Welcome to Windmills Classroom!

Windmills is our Reception class, where the exciting journey of learning begins for our youngest children. In Windmills, we create a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment where curiosity is encouraged, and every child feels valued and supported.

Our approach to learning is rooted in play and exploration, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Each day is carefully planned to provide a balance of structured activities and opportunities for child-led discovery. This helps our children develop key skills in communication, language, literacy, and mathematics while fostering creativity, independence, and a love for learning.

What We Do in Windmills

• Learning Through Play: We provide a rich variety of resources and activities that encourage children to learn through play. From imaginative role-play areas to construction and problem-solving tasks, there’s always something exciting to explore.
• Outdoor Adventures: Outdoor learning is a big part of our day. Our outdoor area is an extension of the classroom, offering opportunities to investigate, create, and connect with nature.
• Phonics and Early Reading: We use systematic phonics to introduce children to the world of reading, helping them develop confidence and a love for books.
• Maths Foundations: Through hands-on activities, games, and practical tasks, we build early mathematical understanding in a fun and engaging way.
• Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: We place great emphasis on helping children build strong relationships, develop self-confidence, and learn to work collaboratively with others.
• Special Events and Themes: Our learning is often guided by seasonal themes, special days, and the children’s own interests, ensuring that every week is filled with excitement and discovery.
